I'm a photographer, traveller, educator, father, husband, and self proclaimed lover of food. I teach full time at Andrews University, and moonlight as a part time faculty at the Academy of Art University. I also run Ullom Photo, a photographic tour company with fellow photographer and travel addict Sharon, who also happens to be my wife. When you are done here, head on over to www.ullom.photo to check out our upcoming tours.
Marc Ullom’s lifelong love affair with photography began at age three, when he snapped his first image with his mom’s 110 Kodak Instamatic camera. Since that moment, the lens has increasingly become the conduit through which he explores new cultures and shares his worldview. Combining his love for photography with his passion for travel, Marc now takes others on a journey of photographic accomplishment and self-discovery with one-of-a-kind expeditions from Ullom Photo.
Marc has been teaching photography in a variety of ways for twenty years, including mentoring MFA thesis students at and developing curriculum for the Academy of Art University, as well as teaching classes and conducting photography expeditions at Andrews University. He earned his MFA in photography from the Academy of Art University in 2008, graduating summa cum laude as valedictorian. He has a knack for getting to the core of his students’ goals and helping them break through tough technical and conceptual roadblocks by uncovering and analyzing their hidden strengths and weaknesses. His passion to push through obstacles has also propelled him to complete two marathons and two half-marathons. Marc has won awards in exhibitions across the country, and he was recently featured in a five-page B&W Magazine portfolio spread.
